- Students should Have completed a University of Melbourne Bachelor of Science (Honours) with a specialization in Chemistry, or a Master of Science (Chemistry).
Or,
- Students should be enrolled in a Doctor or Master of Philosophy Science in the School of Physics.
- Students need to undertake research in Experimental Physics.
Or,
- Students should have completed a major in Mathematics & Statistics in a Bachelor of Science in the year of award.
