The Faculty of Psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) is offering a master’s degree program for 3 semesters in General Health Psychology. The Master's Degree in General Health Psychology qualifies for the exercise of the profession of General Health Psychologist.
Program Overview
Through this Master, students will be able to acquire applied and advanced training in the body of knowledge, technical and attitudinal procedures that allow them to function in the field of Health Psychology.
Specifically, they will be able to acquire knowledge and skills to carry out psychological evaluation and intervention tasks on those aspects of people's behavior that influence the promotion and improvement of health, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to develop psychological research on human behavior.
The Master of General Health Psychology at the UAM is based on the experience of the Faculty of Psychology and its teaching staff in postgraduate training in the clinical field.
At the Autonomous University, the Master in General Health Psychology is linked to the Doctoral Program in Clinical and Health Psychology, with a mention of excellence, so that enrolled students can also develop their doctoral studies in specific areas of Clinical Psychology incorporated into the Master's Degree Curriculum.
For all these reasons, the Autonomous University offers a degree that guarantees a long experience in specialized training in Clinical and Health Psychology.
Admission Requirements
Bachelor's or graduate degree in Psychology together, where appropriate, with a complimentary training that guarantees at least 90 ECTS credits, specifically health-related.
The Master of General Health Psychology is a qualification for the profession of general health psychologist. The degree allows access to professional activity in different clinical settings (care for the population and general pathology in adults, specialized care for addictions, children and young people, the elderly, among others) in the private sphere.
Specific access and admission requirements
- Only people who have obtained a degree in Psychology or a degree in this same discipline will be able to access this Postgraduate course, with Complementary training that guarantees that the candidate has obtained at least 90 ECTS credits of a specific health nature.
- Students who have completed their studies in foreign universities must prove possession of the Bachelor's degree issued by a Spanish University. If they do not already have a homologation of the title, this title will be obtained after partial validation of the studies carried out in foreign universities.
- The partial validation procedure supposes the recognition of the credits of their access studies (minimum 30 ECTS) and the granting of a place to carry out the Degree in Psychology by the continuation of studies.
Once admitted to carry out the degree, the unrecognized credits must be taken by the student.

- Evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention in Health Psychology
- Skills of the general health psychologist
- Module: Electives (12 ECTS)
- External internships (30 ECTS)

Tuition Fees
Tuition fees for the 1st registration at the Master's in General Health Psychology program at the UAM are as follows:
- For Spanish and residents: $3,380;
- For non-resident non-EU members: $17,245.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
The Autonomous University of Madrid, together with different institutions, offers a series of scholarships and grants to carry out Master's studies. Those scholarships include but are not limited to:
Aid for Master-UAM studies:
Aid for students with a good academic record, enrolled in official Master's studies at the UAM, consisting of the exemption of 50% of the tuition fees amount.
External Curricular Internships
Financial aid for carrying out curricular external internships in Departments / Services / Units of the UAM for postgraduate students. The aid is 600 euros/month with a maximum weekly dedication of 25 hours.
