The Department of Nutrition and Food Technology at the School of Agriculture at the University of Jordan is offering a 2 years master's program in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Program Overview
Since its establishment in 1980, the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology at the University of Jordan was considered the first specialized department in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and one of the oldest among similar departments in the Arabic countries.
In 1988, the school offered the master's of Nutrition and Food Technology for the first time, and later on, it was divided into two programs; the master's in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and the master's in Food Science and Technology.
The Master's Program in Human Nutrition and Dietetics is based on preparing qualified human cadres to conduct scientific research, university teaching, spread purposeful culture, and provide services at high quality and professional levels in the various fields of nutrition sciences.
This program also aims to prepare graduates who can:
- Independent creative thinking in solving nutrition-related problems.
- Scientific writing and use of literature in the field of nutrition science.
- To be among technical cadres that contribute to the development of recommendations related to balanced healthy nutrition
- Contribute to the prevention of malnutrition diseases.
- Supervise the nutrition departments in hospitals and health centers.
- Provide people with information about food and nutrition through various means, including business, marketing, means of communication, and social networks.
- Assist in teaching nutritional sciences subjects in universities and scientific institutes.
Admission Requirements
Applicants for the Master's in Human Nutrition and Dietetics must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with a grade of at least "good" or its equivalent, from a university recognized by the University of Jordan.
- The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in one of the priority disciplines:
- The First Priority: Bachelor of Human Nutrition and Dietetics or Clinical Nutrition.
- The Second Priority: Bachelor of Nutrition and Food Technology.
- The Third priority: Bachelor of Food Science and Technology.
- The Fourth priority: Bachelor of Biology, Biochemistry, Health and Medical Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Home Economics (Nutrition Track), and Animal Production.
- The applicant must pass the equivalent English language test (TOEFL or the national exam) or its equivalent, according to the foundations approved by the Council of Deans.
English Language Requirements
To be admitted to this program, the applicant must pass one of the qualifying English language tests with the following scores:
- TOEFL IBT score of 90
- IELTS score of 6.5
- Or a score of at least 75% in the equivalent national exam.
Course Structure
To obtain a master's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, the student studies subjects that qualify him/ her to conduct research in the field of human nutrition.

Aptitude Test

All students enrolled in this program are required to pass the “Arabic Language Proficiency Exam” according to the foundations approved by the Council of Deans.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees for students registered in the Master of Human Nutrition and Dietetics Program are as follow:
- 120 JD ($169) per hour for Jordanian students, which is an amount of 3,960 JD ($5,585) of tuition fees for the full duration of the program.
- 375 JD ($529) for students registered in the International Program, which is an amount of 12,375 JD ($17,454) of tuition fees for the full duration of the program and other fees that may be incurred during the study.
Scholarships
The University of Jordan offers a variety of scholarships, whether internal or from external parties, and one of these scholarships is the ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility.
The ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility, funded by the European Commission, allows master’s students to study courses in European universities that are linked to the University of Jordan through bilateral Erasmus + agreements, on the principle of student exchange, in a manner that does not contradict the instructions for granting degrees at the University of Jordan and the foundations and the rules emanating from it.
These scholarships cover monthly allowances and a contribution to the travel ticket, while the students must insure themselves healthily during their stay in the host universities according to their conditions.
