Discovery Inc. (formerly Discovery Communications) is an American mass media company based in New York City. Established in 1985, the company is best known with its non-scripted and factual television channels, such as the namesake Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Science Channel, TLC, Discovery Family, HGTV, Travel Channel, Food Network, Cooking Channel, and DIY Network. It also expanded to digital business, such as Group Nine Media (of which it owns 35%); media properties for golf enthusiasts under the Golf Digest and Golf TV brands; and education streaming services under its Discovery Education brand.
