Opportunity description
The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, the cultural and social responsibility arm of the Arab Bank, announces the opening of applications for the 19th edition of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children's Literature for 2025. This year's theme is "Travel Literature," targeting the 9+ age group.
"Travel Literature" is one of the oldest narrative arts documenting human experiences across ages, whether through real-life journeys recorded by writers such as Ibn Battuta and Ibn Jubayr, or imaginative voyages that transport readers to new worlds like Gulliver's Travels and Around the World in Eighty Days. Arabs have excelled in this literary genre, which blends eloquent narrative language with imaginative and thrilling elements, offering rich educational and cultural experiences that reflect diverse cultural and touristic details.
