UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity at UNICEF Amman, Jordan as a Program Associate.
Volunteer duration:
9 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of Regional Gender Advisor and Chief of section, the National UN Volunteer Specialist will:
- Help in preparing periodic or ad-hoc financial reports relating to country office and donors to support the office in optimizing use of program funds;
- Support capacity development activities related to program development by preparing training materials and participating in exercises;
- Help in organizing internal and external meetings and workshops to the relevant sections;
- Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring program results, activities and program coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs) and making amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary;
- Carry out transactions in VISION pertaining to grants and program-related items for his/her section including but not limited to registering grant allotments and tracking expiring program grants;
- Prepare monitoring and reporting information for supervisor and team on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for results;
- Regularly monitoring budgets and financial expenditures of section by employing applicable tools, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision and/or follow up;
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Eligibility criteria
- Age 27 - 80
- Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Required experience:
- 3 years of experience in program management and administration work (specific thematic/technical area required). and;
- Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others.
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills.
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team.
- Flexible and open to learning and new experiences.
- Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
- Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
- Languages: Arabic, Level: Mother tongue, Required English, Level: Working knowledge, Required
- Required education level: Bachelor degree or equivalent in Business Administration
