Volunteer Opportunity with Children in Care Centers in Nepal from Projects Abroad

Projects Abroad offers volunteering opportunity with children in care centers in Nepal. Working with underprivileged children, you will improve early childhood development as you will help the Foundation achieve its long-term goal of raising knowledge levels with literacy skills. You can also use your free time and weekends to explore the heritage sites of Nepal and take part in various sports, practicing yoga, and other activities. You can start this opportunity at any time for at least one week.

You will be responsible for:

• Promoting early childhood development and supporting teachers and caregivers in the Foundation's partner care centers.
• Improving children's education and quality of life. The organization has chosen not to work with children in orphanages in Nepal, and to focus on community-based programs that allow children to remain within their families.
• Actively identifying and addressing problems as you will do so by increasing each child's motivation level and raising their literacy levels through creative activities and various games.
• Share your knowledge of good nutrition with caregivers and parents. Malnutrition is a huge problem in Nepal because half of all children under the age of five are malnourished, and many people don't understand what children need to be healthy.
• Helping to achieve the five goals set by the Foundation in the Child Welfare Plan for Nepal:
• Improving hygiene standards for children.
• Spreading awareness of healthy and environmental life and family planning.
• Promote early childhood development.
• Increase knowledge of reading and writing skills.
• Improve the motivation level of each child.
• You will stay with a host family in Nepal who will welcome you into their home, share their customs, and teach you their own culture.
• The Foundation will allow you to live alongside at least one Project Abroad volunteer or intern in the same host family.
• Your room will be modest, but comfortable, clean, and safe.
• The program fee includes three meals a day.
