Opportunity description
ESC invites actors from all over the world to a year-long volunteer opportunity during the period 01/09/2023 to 31/08/2024. This program would show the actors how to set up a youth theatre and youth drama project when they return home, as well as how to use drama as a tool for social change in their own countries. The project will also train them in the process of drama facilitation and directing so that they can enhance their employability by gaining valuable new skills.
Training during the Activity:
- Training will be given in theatre directing, working with young people, project management, child protection and safety, and film making.
- There is a part-time training program delivered every week to all volunteers.
- You will learn about the theory and practice of youth drama facilitation.
- You will take part in theatre-making, developing your skills in performing.
Duties & responsibilities
As one of the volunteers, you will be responsible for:
- working with the theatre company.
- providing free drama and film-making workshops to teenagers in the community.
- supporting all areas of the theatre company, from administration to directing plays.
- working in international groups and other projects with your Irish peers.
Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following criteria:
- The program is for all trained actors, or experienced professional actors, from any country in the EU, and beyond the EU.
- Applications that are especially welcome from young actors and theatre-makers who:
- have ethnic, migrant, Asian, North African, Arabian, or Eastern European backgrounds, or are LGBTQI+ or marginalized in some way in their country.
- speak excellent ENGLISH.
- are social, outgoing, and friendly young people who can live independently.
- can take initiative.
