Opportunity description

Rhodes House is offering Postgraduate Scholarships for Global. The Rhodes Scholarship program is the oldest (established in 1903), and perhaps the most prestigious and international scholarship program in the world. Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, the program covers more than 100 fully-funded scholarships each year for postgraduate study for young leaders of outstanding intellect and character who are motivated to engage with global challenges, commit to the service of others and show promise of becoming value-driven principled leaders in the future. 

Benefits

The scholarship covers all university fees, as well as the application fee and a personal stipend. In addition to that, it offers one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the scholarship and one economy flight back to the student’s home country at the end of the scholarship.


Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must have nationality of one of the following countries: Iraq, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, Somalia, Tunisia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Yemen
  • You must be at least 18 and have not reached your 24th birthday (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 1997 and on or before 1 October 2003). 
  •  You must have completed (or will have completed by June / July 2022) an undergraduate degree with a First Class or minimum GPA minimum of 3.70 out of 4.0 (or equivalent). 
  • You must have a sufficiently high standard of English to meet the English language proficiency requirements (at the Higher Level listed) of the University of Oxford.

Required Documents:

  • You should upload copies of official documents e.g. birth certificate, National Registration Card (NRC), passport etc.
  • An official transcript from the college or university at which you are studying, or have studied, showing grades achieved (to date).
  • Evidence of English Language Proficiency
  • A full curriculum vitae which should include details about academic qualifications, prizes, scholarships, positions of leadership, employment positions, involvement in student, voluntary, community or political activities and any cultural, musical or sporting accomplishments
  • A head-and-shoulders colour photograph (jpg format).
  • An academic statement of study of no more than 750 words
  • A personal statement of no more than 1,000 words. 
  • You will need to provide a list of five people (your referees) who are willing to submit references on your behalf

Rhodes House is part of the University of Oxford in England. It is located on South Parks Road in central Oxford, and was built in memory of Cecil Rhodes, an alumnus of the university and a major benefactor.
