Opportunity description

The Moth, an international arts and literature magazine based in Ireland, is organizing its 2025 Short Story Prize competition. The competition is open to anyone from anywhere in the world, provided their story is original and previously unpublished.

Deadline: June 30, 2025

Eligibility:

  • You can enter as many stories as you like.
  • There is a word limit of 3,000.
  • Entries must be in English.
  • Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published, published online or broadcast.
  • Entry fee: 15 \u20ac per story.

Prizes:

  • 1st prize: 3,000 \u20ac
  • 2nd prize: a week-long writing retreat in France plus open travel stipend.
  • 3rd prize: 1,000 \u20ac
