Opportunity description
Artopps is proud to announce the seventh installment of the Derwent Art Prize which is dedicated to championing art made in pencil and supporting artists in their careers. It invites artists to submit the very best in 2D and 3D artworks created in any pencil, and they will get a chance to attend the international exhibition in the beating heart of the Southbank at gallery@OXO and award prizes worth £13,000.
Benefits
If you are among the winners, you will have one of the following prizes:
- First Prize: £4,000 plus a year’s supply of Derwent products
- Second Prize: £2,000
- Young Artist First Prize (For artists under 25 years) £4,000
- Young Artist Second Prize (For artists under 25 years) £2,000
- People’s Choice Award: £500
- New Artist Award (For artists who have not previously entered the Derwent Art Prize): £500
- In addition, all the First and Second prize winners will receive a special box of Derwent Lightfast Pencils.
Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following criteria:
- Competition is open to the very best in 2D and 3D artworks created in any pencil.
- Accepted mediums: Pencil, colored pencil, water-soluble, pastel, graphite, and charcoal (all in either 2D or 3D).
- Artists have until 4th January 2024 to submit up to 6 recent works, in digital format (jpg, max. 1MB file size).
- Following the selection process, all artists will be notified by 22 January 2024.
- The entry fee is £15 for the first work and £5 for each additional work.
- Artists may only enter once, with a maximum of 6 images.
- YOUNG ARTIST CONCESSION: Artists under 25 years of age will pay £5 per work.
- A non-refundable application fee.
ArtOpps:
A streamlined platform for both clients and artists. For clients, a bespoke entry system for creative opps; for artists, a unique way of monitoring those opps. It is an efficient way of reviewing text-based proposals, images, videos, and sound content from a large number of submissions and can be used by multiple reviewers at once. Submissions can be rated in a way that makes the decision-making process much easier.
