Each year, the Swiss government scholarship offers scholarships for Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs in Switzerland, as part of the government's excellence scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and more than 180 other countries.
Applicants are selected by a specialized body in the Swiss government scholarship. The Swiss government's excellence scholarships target young researchers from abroad.
Types of Swiss Government Scholarships
- The government research scholarship is available to post-graduate researchers in any field (with a minimum Master's degree) who plan to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at the doctoral or post-doctoral level.
- The Swiss government's art scholarship is open to art students who wish to obtain an initial Master's degree in Switzerland. Art "scholarships" are awarded for study at any Swiss music institute or art university. This scholarship is available to students from a limited number of countries only.
Swiss Government Scholarship Funding
- The government scholarship funds tuition fees.
- The scholarship in Switzerland funds travel expenses.
- The Swiss government scholarship funds accommodation costs.
- You will receive assistance in submitting your study visa application.
- A monthly allowance will be provided to cover living expenses.
- You will receive other benefits offered by the scholarship.
Swiss Government Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
- The Swiss government scholarship is offered in various fields to help students raise their education level.
- The Swiss scholarship is available to pursue PhD, post-doctoral programs, research, and fine arts opportunities for the Master's program.
- The applicant must have achieved this degree before the start of the program next September.
- As proof, the degree must be submitted to the Federal Commission for Scholarships before the start of the program.
- The applicant's date of birth is after December 31, 1983.
- Applicants who have been in Switzerland for more than a year at the start of the program in September are not eligible.
- Applicants must submit a letter from an academic host professor (including their short CV) at the chosen Swiss university confirming their willingness to supervise and support their PhD. Thesis. Without this support, the application will be rejected.
- Applicants must have a research proposal including a timeframe.
- The applicant must devote all the necessary attention to it. Applicants must be able to have the language skills necessary for PhD. studies / research.
- Applicants who have already benefited from the Swiss government's excellence scholarship are not eligible to apply for a second "scholarship".
- It is expected that holders of the Swiss government scholarship will move to Switzerland during the scholarship period.
- Post-doctoral criteria PhD degree no more than five years have passed between the award of the PhD. and the application deadline.
- Applicants who have been in Switzerland for more than a year at the start of the program in September are not eligible.
- Applicants must have a research proposal including a timeframe (this is the core of the application. The applicant must devote all the necessary attention to it).
- Research criteria Master's degree or equivalent university degree recognized by the Swiss university.
Swiss Government Scholarship Funding
- The Swiss government scholarship covers a monthly payment of 1,920 Swiss francs.
- Mandatory Swiss health insurance is paid by FCS.
- There are no family allowances.
- Holders of the Swiss government scholarship receive a flight allowance (lump sum) for a return ticket to their country of origin (provided at the end of the program).
- A special housing allowance of 300 Swiss francs (paid once at the beginning of the program).
- Public transport card for half a year.
- Support services, various trips, dinners and city tours organized for holders of the Swiss government's excellence scholarships.
- Holders of the Swiss government scholarship may request an additional allowance for fieldwork.
- For fieldwork lasting more than two months, the program amount will be reduced to 50%. Post-doctoral scholarships: Assistance reaches a monthly payment of 3,500 Swiss francs.
