Opportunity description
The application process for the SINGA International Graduate Scholarship is currently open for the August 2025 intake. This prestigious scholarship is jointly managed by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (ASTAR) and five prominent universities in Singapore. It is exclusively available for individuals pursuing PhD or EngD degrees at NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT. Candidates from all around the world are encouraged to apply, as SINGA provides comprehensive coverage for all expenses related to the doctoral program.
One of the standout features of SINGA is its streamlined application process, which does not require GRE, IELTS, TOEFL, SAT I & II, or GATE scores at the time of application. However, depending on specific university requirements, these scores may be requested later in the admission process. Applicants' English proficiency will be assessed both verbally and in writing by the selection committee. Successful candidates will be awarded the SINGA scholarship for four years, providing them with ongoing support throughout their research journey in Singapore.
Benefits
- SINGA covers the full tuition fees for awardees.
- Recipients will receive a monthly allowance of SGD 2,200.
- The monthly allowance will increase to SGD 2,700 after passing the qualifying exam.
- Awardees will receive a one-time travel grant of up to SGD 1,500.
- A one-time settling-in allowance of SGD 1,000 will be provided.
- A relocation allowance of up to SGD 1,000 will be offered.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be international students.
- Applicants should have completed a bachelor's degree.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent academic results.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- SINGA does not require a specific English proficiency certificate, as it can be assessed during the interview; however, individual universities may impose their own requirements.
- Singaporean citizens or candidates who have already completed their higher education in Singapore are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants wishing to apply for a master's program are not eligible.
- Only candidates intending to pursue a PhD in science and engineering are eligible.
- Doctoral programs in social sciences, humanities, economics, etc., are not eligible.
