Opportunity description

United Nations Volunteers programme is offering an online volunteer opportunity: Research Support for Infodemic Management.

Duration:

12 weeks/ 11 -15 hours

Duties & responsibilities

  • Report on findings on key priority diseases/hazards from Google Trends on a weekly basis.
  • Produce one monthly Social Report, consolidating daily and weekly reports provided.
  • Develop and submit an updated infodemic analysis database using the existing template.
  • Input and categorise six months of social media and other online data based on the established framework
  • Conduct research and develop a 15-page information ecosystem source mapping report to identify and document key data sources on social media engagement, connectivity, press freedom, civil society, digital literacy, and cybersecurity.

Eligibility criteria

Required experience:

  • Candidates should have strong understanding of digital media landscapes and the dynamics of information spread during public health emergencies.
  • Have analytical thinking with the ability to identify patterns in data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively, is desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of social media monitoring tools and data analysis software, is desirable.
  • A degree in communication or related field is considered an asset.
