UNV offers an online volunteer opportunity to translate disability inclusion reports and guidelines from English to French. You will be responsible for reviewing, translating and formatting technical guidance documents, case studies, data collection tools, reports and strategy documents.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Language proofreading and translation of guidance documents.
- Communicate with the core team via email and translate, review and match document formats ranging from 800 to 6,500 words to and from French.
- Translate approximately 2 to 3 documents per week, although this can vary weekly depending on the length of the document.
- Ensure that translated terminology is consistent across the document and in line with WFP format and global and country standard frameworks.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- You must be a native French speaker.
- Proficiency in English.
- Experience in translating documents from English to French and from French to English.
- Preferably familiar with terminology related to disability inclusion, food systems, humanitarian assistance and development, nutrition and food security, rights, and civil society organizations.
- Preferably previous experience working with WFP/FAO/IFAD/WHO/UNEP/UNDP documents.
- Preferably previous experience translating UN documents.
- You must be responsive via email and demonstrate an eye for detail.
- Preferably fluent in French and English.
