UNV is offering an online volunteer opportunity to translate disability inclusion reports and guidelines from English to Spanish, where you will review, translate and format technical guidance documents, case studies, data collection tools, reports and strategy documents. The translated materials will support WFP staff at country, regional and global levels as they adopt an inclusive approach to dealing with persons with disabilities.
Duties & responsibilities
- You will provide support to the Disability Inclusion team through proofreading and translation of guidance documents.
- Your responsibilities will include liaising with the core team via email and translating, reviewing and reconciling documents ranging from 800 to 6,500 words to and from Spanish.
- Approximately 2-3 documents will be translated per week, although this may vary weekly depending on the length of the document.
- You must ensure that translated terminology is consistent across the document and in line with WFP’s global and country standard frameworks and formats.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Must be a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English.
- Experience translating documents from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English.
- Preferably familiar with terminology related to disability inclusion, food systems, humanitarian assistance and development, nutrition and food security, rights, and civil society organizations.
- Preferably have previous experience working with WFP/FAO/IFAD/WHO/UNEP/UNDP documents.
- Preferably have previous experience translating UN documents.
- Must be responsive via email and demonstrate attention to detail.
