Opportunity description
Africa Matters Initiative (AMI) offers the Africa Matter Ambassador Program (AMAP) for young African. The Africa Matter Ambassador Program (AMAP) is is a one year, non-residential, online development program for young Africans, focused on leadership and mentorship of soft skills development, social entrepreneurship, advocacy, African feminisms, cross continental network building, mentorship from industry leaders across Africa and the implementation of four-community impact projects. This program has been running for 2 years and in 2022 it is coming back with a new edition.
Ambassadors Responsibilities:-
- Ambassadors are to complete their online training modules and conduct the practical element of the program. Their community impact projects are intertwined with Africa Matter’s Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) and Schools Leadership Development Program (SLDP) workshops.
- Ambassadors are to identify issues that affect their communities and establish tangible and sustainable solutions to rectify them.
- They are to collaborate and train youth in their communities who do not form part of the Africa Matters community to achieve tangible youth empowerment across communities. Ambassadors will then begin establishing Africa Matters hubs in their countries.
Benefits
At the end of the program, participants emerge with a strong network of other young African leaders, mentors, a certificate of participation, newly acquired skills and the support of the AMI team to run social impact programs in their communities.
Eligibility criteria
20 young African persons between ages 18-29 will form part of this program from the following countries: Algeria, Morocco, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, South Africa and Botswana.
