Opportunity description
The Isaac Newton Institute is organizing an art competition on mathematical themes related to anomalous diffusion. The competition is open to artists aged 18 and over.
The artwork must be connected to the mathematical themes as described on the official competition website. Some potential mathematical themes that could be explored are: (ir)regularity and anomaly of mathematical patterns, interacting particle systems, fluid and gas dynamics, random networks, reflecting processes, interacting random walks and their geometry, diffusive processes, kinetic art.
There are three competition categories: Photograph, painting, film, print, animation; Textile, sculpture or other medium; AI and computer-generated art.
The competition is free to enter. Prizes: 1st Prize £750 in each category; Runner-up £300 in each category; Honourable mention £150 in each category; People’s Choice Prize £750.
Benefits
Cash prizes: £750 for 1st prize in each category, £300 for runner-up, £150 for honourable mention, and £750 for the People’s Choice Prize.
Eligibility criteria
Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Artwork must relate to the specified mathematical themes, and only one entry per category is allowed.
