Projects Abroad is pleased to announce an exchange program that has been launched under the title; Live and Work with Nomads in Mongolia. This program gives you a chance to experience a unique and ancient way of life by living with a nomadic family in Mongolia.

Eligibility criteria

You should follow the following criteria:

  • This project is perfect for any person wanting to experience a different and more traditional way of life.
  • This program is for:
    • Teenagers
    • University Students
    • Families
    • Professionals and Career Breakers
    • Medical Students
    • Short-Term Volunteers
    • Duke of Edinburgh's Award Candidates
  • You don’t need any experience for this project.
  • You should have willing to help and learn. 
  • Program fees: £195.
  • This project runs all year round, so you can join whenever it suits your schedule.
  • You’ll need to volunteer for a minimum of one week, but staying longer will get the most out of this unique experience.

Please note: The best time to join the project is during the animal breeding season between March and April.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for fully involved with a nomad family’s daily life in Mongolia, and there are some tasks that you expect to do:

  • Help your nomad family with chores and activities inside the house and out in the field.
  • Teach basic English to nomad children and their families, while learning a bit of Mongolian yourself.
  • Learn about the nomad way of life from the adults.
