Alamo Colleges Foundation Scholarships

The Alamo Colleges Foundation offers a wide variety of scholarships thanks to the generous support of donors. These scholarships are available to new students, continuing students, and transfer students from other educational institutions. All students—whether domestic, international, or DACA recipients—are encouraged to apply.

Eligible Applicants:

  • New students enrolling at an Alamo College for the first time.

  • Continuing students currently enrolled at an Alamo College.

  • Transfer students coming from other institutions.

  • Domestic students, international students, and DACA students.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants are evaluated based on several factors, including:

  • Academic excellence

  • Program or field of study

  • Community service involvement

  • Extracurricular activities (such as student clubs or organizations)

  • Financial need

  • Residency

  • Participation in campus-based organizations or clubs

How to Apply:

  • Submit the General Scholarship Application, which qualifies you for all available Alamo scholarships.

  • Visit the Foundation's scholarship application page and click the "Sign In" button located at the upper right-hand corner.

  • Log in using your ACES credentials (student username and password).

  • Complete and submit the application form in full.

Application Period for the 2025–2026 Academic Year:

  • Application opens: January 15, 2025

  • Application deadline: May 15, 2025

Essay Requirement (Personal Statement):

Applicants must submit an essay responding to the following prompt:

“Please describe your journey in attending Alamo Colleges, without including your name, and be sure to address the following points:”

  • A brief description of yourself (hometown, hobbies, strengths)

  • Your involvement in work, family responsibilities, community service, organizations, or military service

  • Your reason for choosing your academic program and your plans after graduation (employment or transferring to a university)

  • Any specific challenges or barriers you face and how a scholarship would help you overcome them

Important Guidelines for the Essay:

  • The essay must be completely anonymous. Do not include any personal identifiers such as your name, or your essay score will be reduced.

  • The essay must be at least four complete sentences and no more than 800 words.

  • Essays are evaluated based on content quality and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • It is strongly recommended to write and proofread your essay in a program like Microsoft Word or Google Docs to check grammar and calculate word count before submitting.

Note Regarding Documents:

In addition to sending your transcripts to the college for admission purposes, you must also send them to the designated mailing or email address for scholarship consideration.
