The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the EU Delegation to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (EU Jordan), represented by the Syrian-Jordanian Education Program, are pleased to announce the opening of applications for bachelor’s degrees scholarships, international professional diplomas, and bridging to bachelor’s degrees within the framework of the Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative Fund scholarship program (DAFI) and the Syrian-Jordanian Education Program (EDU-SYRIA), funded by the German government, the Said and Asfari Foundations and the European Union.
Applications for this year will be in two stages:
- The first stage: Students will be accepted and registered for bachelor studies during the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.
- The second stage: It will be announced in the coming months, in which students will be accepted and registered to study the bachelor's degree, the international professional diploma and the bridge to the bachelor's degree.

- Yarmouk University - Irbid
- Zarqa University - Zarqa
- Amman Arab University - Amman
- Mutah University - Karak
- Tafila Technical University - Tafila
Universities available during the second phase:
- Zarqa University - Zarqa
- Luminus Technical University College (LTUC) - Amman and Irbid
- Princess Sumaya University for Technology (only for information technology majors) - Amman
Benefits
- The scholarship covers all tuition fees.
- The scholarship offers an allowance for living expenses, books, and transportation.
- The scholarship will be extended on an annual basis.
- As for the Syrian Education Program, renewal for the scholarship is available for the duration of the program, if the applicant maintains his academic performance.
Eligibility criteria
Conditions and Eligibility Criteria:
- The applicant must be registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
- The scholarship is available to all nationalities.
- The applicant must be a high school graduate (Jordanian Tawjihi) for the academic year 2021-2022 and 2022-2023
- To apply for bridging, the applicant must have obtained an intermediate university degree or an international professional diploma within the last 3 years.
- The age should not exceed 28 years.
- Academic excellence is required.
- Lack of financial capabilities to complete higher education without a scholarship.
- No family member is currently or has benefited from a DAFI or Edu-Syria scholarship.
- You have a strong drive to contribute to society.
Important Notes:
- The deadline for applications is August 26, 2023.
- Online applications are accepted only through the link.
- English is a necessary for majors based on this language.
- The scholarship offers only 3 seats only for majors that require 5 to 6 years of study for the first stage of the announcement.
- The scholarship encourages female and male students with special needs to apply.
- Applying for the scholarship is free.
- Students who are qualified for the first stage will be invited for interviews.
Required Documents for the Interview:
- Personal Photograph.
- Original and a copy of high school transcript.
- Transcript of the intermediate university degree or international professional diploma and a copy (for bridging students only).
- A copy of the asylum application certificate issued by the UNHCR.
- The Ministry of Interior card (the security card) for the Syrian nationality, and the passport for the non-Syrian nationalities.
About DAFI:
The Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative Fund scholarship program offers refugee students the possibility to pursue an undergraduate degree in their country of asylum. Through the dedicated support of the German Government, and additional private donors, UNHCR was able to support over 9,300 young refugees since 1992.
