Opportunity description
Qatar Museums presents "Everything is Red and Grey’: Forensic Architecture", in the context of Israel’s military campaign of genocide in the occupied Gaza Strip. Forensic Architecture (FA)’s first independent exhibition in the Gulf region, ‘Everything is Red and Grey’, showcases recent investigations conducted in collaboration with Palestinian civil society groups. FA has its origins in a critical practice dedicated to confronting settler-colonial violence in Palestine through local, factual investigations that counter Israeli occupation state narrative.
Two of the major investigations expose the systematic executions and mass graves of Palestinian civilians done by Israeli forces in 1948, focusing on the villages of Tantura and Ad-Dawayima, which were ethnically razed and wiped out that year. The works in the exhibition demonstrate the horrific continuity of how Israel’s crimes of ethnic cleansing and displacement are now being perpetrated against Palestinian civilians in Gaza strip.
For the first time, these projects are being displayed publicly to highlight the voices and testimonies of survivors of the 1948 massacres, by reconstructing forgotten moments that bear witness to the ongoing and escalating Palestinian experience of the Nakba crimes.
These projects will be presented alongside other selected investigations of regional significance conducted by FA that address the issues of violence against migrants and their working conditions, in addition to issues of espionage and surveillance. The exhibition aims to provide an in-depth look at the advanced technologies used and the extensive networks of relationships that represent the political, intellectual and artistic system of FA.
This exhibition also represents a starting point for multiple forms of interaction with the intellectual context in Doha, through lectures, educational intervention sessions, and public presentations of FA’s work in collaboration with Georgetown University in Qatar.
