Desperate Literature, an international bookshop in Madrid, Spain, organizes the Desperate Literature Short Fiction Prize, open to anyone over the age of 18. The aim is to celebrate the best of new short fiction and to give winners the most visibility possible for their writing.
Submissions must be previously unpublished works of fiction of up to 2,000 words and must be in English.
Entry fees: \u20ac20 for the first submission and \u20ac10 for each subsequent submission.
Prizes:
- First Prize: \u20ac2,000 and a week’s residency at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation
- Runner-up Prizes (2): \u20ac1,000
Eligibility criteria
The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18. Submissions must be previously unpublished works of fiction of up to 2,000 words and must be in English.
