Opportunity description

Chaucer is announcing the Canterbury Tales Writing Competition that offers a chance for students of all ages to showcase their writing skills.

Age groups:

  • Junior: 5-10 years old
  • Intermediate: 11-14 years old
  • Senior: 15-18 years old

Theme: Surprise, Surprise!

Guidelines:

  • Write a poem or story about a surprise.
  • Write a poem or story with a twist in the tail.
  • Write a description of a character who was not what they appeared to be.

Word Count: 500 words max

Closing Date: 28 February 2025

Entry: Free

Top Prize: £300 for winner and £1000 for their school library
