The Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy is an intensive 8-month incubator program tailored for aspiring artisan entrepreneurs. It offers specialized entrepreneurship training and holistic support to help participants launch successful businesses in plumbing and electrical trades. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and access to resources, the program equips individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in these industries. Designed to foster innovation and business acumen, the Startup Academy provides a solid foundation for artisans to transform their trade expertise into sustainable enterprises, driving economic growth and creating job opportunities within their communities.
The StartUp Academy provides participants with:

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should be aged 18-35 years.
- Relevant trade: Electrical/Plumbing.
- Unemployed or self-employed (not studying).
- Qualified electrician or plumber with a trade test.
- OR, have 3 years work experience in the relevant trade and are ready to take the trade test.
- OR, N2 certificate and 3 years work experience in either the electrical or plumbing trade.
Application
Required documents include:
- N2 Certificate/National Technical Diploma/Trade Test (if applicable).
- Proof of work experience.
- National Senior Certificate (advantageous).
- Certified Copy of ID.
