Opportunity description
VSO has an opening for a Volunteer in the field of Healthcare in Buee, Ethiopia. The objective of the placement is to transfer skill and knowledge particularly to paediatric and neonatal department staff and generally to overall hospital staff through mentoring. The knowledge and skill acquired is expected to improve the quality of services and the competence of pediatric and neonatal department staff. The volunteer is also expected to advise on strengthening of pediatric ward and NICU services in the hospital. The volunteer will work for six months at Buee Primary Hospital.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
The volunteer must have:
- A postgraduate clinical training in Pediatrics.
- At least five years post-qualification experience.
Responsibilities
- Identify skill gaps in the area of neonatal and pediatric patient diagnosis and treatment and provide training to health workers who deal with neonates, infants, and children in the targeted hospital.
- Support the standardization of neonatal and pediatric patient diagnosis and treatment procedures and protocols in line with the national standards.
- Provide technical support in Setting up NICU.
- Provide technical support to pediatric and neonatal departments to improve service quality.
- Additional remarks: The Volunteer might be expected to support other hospitals with focus on capacity building training of General practitioners and nurses in the area of pediatric and neonatal patient care.
