Opportunity description

The Royal Film Commission announces the "Narrator" screenwriter workshop, which is an annual workshop held for five days, in which a number of independent Arab screenwriters participate with the scenario of their first or second long scenario film. The screenwriters joining the workshop will work individually with mentors, who are a handful of internationally renowned screenwriters. Individual meetings are aimed to support participants, raise their writing style, and helping them to develop their narrative projects creatively. In the past fifteen years, the "Narrator" workshop has been supported by 114 screenwriters, and a number of the graduates of the workshop has successfully photographed and produced their films. They also toured regional and international film festivals that received many awards. For more information on the completed alumni projects of Rawy, visit the success stories page. The sixteenth edition of the Narrator for screenwriters workshop will take place between 29 November to 6 December 2020 at the Finan Ecological Inn located in Wadi Finan in southern Amman.

Eligibility:

  1. Full long film scripts are accepted.
  2. Arab writers can apply to participate, regardless of their place of residence.
  3. This competition is opened to an independent screenwriter, co-writer or director-writer.
  4. Writers who work on their first or second long novel projects are qualified for this competition.
  5. Applications from graduates of the previous workshop sessions will not be considered.
  6. Find out more information about other participants by visiting the full list of narrator alumni from here.
  7. For more information on the Narrator's creative mentors over the years, please visit the full list from here.
  8. The initial list of selected works depends on the excellence of the text in terms of: the story, originality of the idea, characters, dialogue, writing style and the opinions of committee members, and the status of the text is taken as to its suitability to benefit from the workshop. Sometimes judges look carefully at the writer's way of managing the script.
  9. For more information about the jury, please browse the "Creative Consultants" list from here.
