Opportunity description

The University of West London announced the 2020 Alastair Storey Scholarship, this scholarship is open to outstanding full-time Home/EU or International students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Hospitality or Culinary Arts at the London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism. Candidates will have to complete an application form stating their academic record to date and will need to provide detailed information on their financial circumstances. The successful candidates will be chosen by the University’s selection committee.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Level of Study: Undergraduate/Postgraduate.
  • Year of Study: Any.
  • School: London College of Hospitality & Tourism.
  • Additional Criteria: Selection is on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

Requirement:

If applying to this award, the applicant must accept the following conditions: 

  • He must be registered on a course in Hospitality or Culinary Arts during the 2019/2020 academic year. 
  • He must maintain a good academic standing and attendance record throughout his course. 
  • He must attend the Donors and Scholars Reception or any other event that the Office of Development and Alumni Relations see fit. 
  • He must write a short thank you letter to the donor responsible for funding this award.

Scholarship Amount:

This scholarship is valued at £3,500 and offered for 1 year. 

Selection Criteria:

Applicants are evaluated on the following criteria: 

  • Academic achievement.
  • Financial need.
  • Personal statements.
  • Recommendations.

Required Documents:

All supporting documents must be attached to the application form. Supporting documents submitted/emailed separately will be not be considered. 

An application must include:

  • Two letters of reference (i.e. from a tutor) 
  • Evidence of the applicant (or parent/guardian) total household income – one of the following: P60 for the financial year ending April 2019; 3 months of payslips; Benefits letter; Student Finance England letter.

Note: Only successful applicants will be notified. If successful, the applicant academic information may be shared with the people responsible for funding this award to keep them updated on his progression.
