Opportunity description

In a joint effort to nurture the aspirations of budding photographers throughout the region, National Geographic Abu Dhabi and Almarai are proud to present Moments – a photography competition that requires participants from every walk of life to capture and move audiences and judges through a single image based on a chosen theme and inspired moment. As we enter the 8th year of this highly acclaimed competition, We hope to inspire the young and the young at heart. Push the boundaries of creativity. And ultimately, evoke a sense of accomplishment as we bring personal, heart-felt stories to life through the power of imagination.

The Theme of the Contest:

The theme of the contest is “A Year Lived Differently". 2020 has merged our personal and professional lives. It's been a year of inspirational, postponed, and passed moments. Share your moments that show a year lived differently. Entry should be accompanied by a caption/description (300 characters max) in either Arabic or English on what makes this photograph so special.

Categories:

  • The Kids Category Awards: between 13 to 17 years old
  • Adult Category: from 18 and over

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The participants must be above the age of 13.
  • Employees of National Geographic Abu Dhabi and its partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of such employees, whether or not related are not eligible.
  • Please don't enter the same photo more than once.

Judging Criteria:

The Contest consists of two rounds of evaluation. In round one, each judge in a panel of photographic experts (at least one of whom will be independent of Organizer) (“Judges”) will select fifty entries from among all eligible entries from each category based on the following criteria:

  •  Creativity 50%
  • Photographic quality 50%

The entries selected in round one will proceed to Round Two. In round two, the Judges will collectively select 1 winner amongst the shortlisted 20 entries from each category and the same cannot be contested. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges for a re-judging between the tied entries alone. In the event that a tie remains after re-judging, the entry with the highest score in the creativity criteria will be declared the winner. Winners will be chosen the end of June and notified by email. Decisions of the judges are final and binding. The Judges’ decisions as to any matter relating to the Contest, including but not limited to any entry eligibility, the winning entry(ies) and the winner(s), will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into about the Contest or the Judges’ decisions.
