Opportunity description
The Google Science Fair competition is an online science competition, open to students between the ages of 13 and 18 from around the world. Students should deliver a project which is an in-depth investigation of a science question or engineering problem using a sound scientific or engineering method, or computational thinking. The Judging Panel will take the Entrants’ topic selections into consideration when placing the Entries into a Category (Experimenting Category or Engineering Category).
● Experimenting Category includes the following: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental, Flora & Fauna, Food Science.
● Engineering Category includes the following: Astrophysics, Energy & Space, Physics, Electricity & Electronics, Inventions & Innovations, Robotics, Computer Science & Math.
Submissions close in December 12th, 2018.
Prizes
- Grand prize: $50,000 worth educational scholarship provided by Google.
- LEGO Education Award: $15,000 scholarship and a trip to LEGO in Denmark.
- Explorer Award: $15,000 and an exploratory expedition provided by National Geographic.
- Innovator Award: $15,000 scholarship and a trip with scientists across the world.
- Pioneer Award: $15,000 scholarship and a tour in the Virgin Galactic's facilities.
- The Inspiring Educator Award: $5,000 gift card from LEGO Education for educational products.
- Travel to Google headquarters (20 global finalists).
- Score an Android tablet and other goodies (53 state winners).
- Score a Chromebook and other goodies (100 regional winners).
Eligibility
- Competition is open to 13-18 year old individuals.
- Previous Winners of Google Science Fair (of any award and/or prize) are not eligible to participate in Google Science Fair 2018.
- The parent or legal guardian of an Entrant under the legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence (as defined below): (a) will ensure that the Entrant will comply with the Official Rules; and (b) agrees to the Official Rules on behalf of their-self and ratifies the Entrant’s acceptance of these Official Rules.
- The Competition is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, the Crimea Region, and any other U.S. sanctioned country and is void where prohibited by law.
- Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and their immediate family members of the Competition Entities and their respective parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies, advertising and promotion agencies, legal and financial advisors, any and all other companies associated with this Competition, are not eligible to enter or otherwise participate in this Competition.
