Opportunity description
Pro Helvetia Studio Residency invites artists to apply for a fully funded Residency program that aims to enhance cultural exchange and artistic collaborations between Switzerland and the Arab region.
Description of the Program
Pro Helvetia Studio Residency offers a studio residency (3 months) for Swiss artists, curators and cultural practitioners in the Arab region (to Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Lebanon) or, conversely, in Switzerland for artists, curators and cultural practitioners from the Arab region (from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Lebanon). Pro Helvetia Cairo promotes artistic and cultural exchange between Switzerland and the Arab region. To raise awareness of Swiss culture around the world, we forge ties with local event organisers, develop and nurture long-term partnerships, initiate co-productions with artists from the regions concerned and organise residencies.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must possess relevant and adequate language skills (English, French and/or German).
- Applicants must provide convincing track record: professional track record extending beyond local/regional level.
- Participants must have experience in the art field, and there is no specific age requirement.
- Applicants may benefit three times in total from a Pro Helvetia studio residency.
Funding
In addition to a place to work and accommodation the orgnization offers specific coaching. The swiss arts council covers the costs of travel, accommodation, insurance and per diem.
Pro Helvetia Cairo works with a network of organisations that can host residencies in different cities in Switzerland and in the Arab region. The residency program looks to customise each residency according to the needs of the individual arts professional as much as possible.
