Opportunity description

The Government of Australia offers Palestinian students fully funded MA scholarships for the academic year 2019-2020. The scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. They aim to contribute to the development needs of Australia's partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements. The study and research opportunities provided by Australia Awards Scholarships develop the skills and knowledge of individuals to drive change and contribute to development in their own countries.

Priority fields of study:

The priority areas of study for the Palestinian Territories are:

  1. Public policy
  2. Public financial management
  3. Agriculture
  4. Water resources management

Funding:

Scholarship recipients will receive the following:

  1. return air travel
  2. a one-off establishment allowance on arrival 
  3. full tuition fees
  4. contribution to living expenses
  5. introductory Academic Program
  6. overseas Student Health cover for the duration of the scholarship
  7. supplementary academic support
  8. fieldwork allowance for research students and masters by coursework which has a compulsory fieldwork component.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. be a minimum of 18 years of age on 1 February of the year of commencing the scholarship
  2. be a citizen of a participating country and be residing in and applying for the scholarship from their country of citizenship
  3. not be a citizen of Australia, hold permanent residency in Australia or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently
  4. Not be applying for a scholarship for a course of study at an academic level lesser than they have already achieved
  5. Commitment to return to their country after completion of the program

English language requirements:

  1. an Academic IELTS result with an overall score of at least 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or
  2. an internet-based TOEFL score of at least 79, with a minimum of 19 in all subtests, or
  3. PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.
