Opportunity description
The University of Oxford in collaboration with Saïd Business School offers Executive MBA Director’s Scholarships that aim to enhance the diversity of each EMBA cohort and enable current and future leaders to make a difference in their chosen field. Open to candidates who can effectively demonstrate how they will enhance the learning experience of the cohort through the diverse experience they have accumulated to date, these scholarships cover a portion of the program fee.
Eligibility Criteria
The Admissions Committee requires you to have the following:
- at least five years' managerial experience.
- an undergraduate degree (ideally 2:1 or above) or equivalent professional qualification. Alternatively, you may be considered if you have a very strong fast-track employment history.
- candidates are required to complete the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) or the GMAC Executive Assessment Test. Exemptions may be available for some highly experienced candidates. Contact the Recruitment team for guidance.
- English language proficiency.
- two professional or academic references.
Selection Criteria
- Academic excellence (candidates must be educated to degree level).
- How your background will enhance the diversity of the cohort.
- How the program will benefit your sector/region in the long-term.
- Preference will be given to candidates that can effectively demonstrate how they will enhance the learning experience of the cohort through the diverse experience they have accumulated to date. This could include experience in working across multiple sectors and regions especially emerging markets.
- Preference will also be given to candidates from emerging markets or non-traditional backgrounds, such as (but not exclusively) voluntary charitable organizations, international organizations, and military backgrounds.
Application Procedures
Upload a scholarship supporting statement (200–400 words) in the Funding section of the Executive MBA program application, answering the following question: Demonstrate how your background will enhance the diversity of the Executive MBA cohort and how the program will benefit your sector/region in the long-term.
Required Documents:
- Academic transcripts outlining subjects studied and grades obtained. If your original transcripts are not in English you must also supply an official translation.
- A GMAT score or GMAC’s Executive Assessment (please follow the links and contact GMAC directly to book either test). Exemptions may be available, please contact the recruitment team to find out more.
- Valid work/professional/institutional email address for each referee.
- Three completed essays as directed by the application form.
- If English is not your first language or you are not from a majority English speaking country*, you must take a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Test Scheme (IELTS) and meet all minimum scores.
Minimum overall score required for TOEFL is 110 (Listening: 22, Reading: 24, Writing: 24 and Speaking: 25)
Minimum overall score required for IELTS is 7.5 (minimum required on each component for IELTS: 7)
Submission dates
Scholarships will be allocated in four selection rounds. Candidates must submit a complete Executive MBA application including the scholarship statement by one of the following deadlines:
- 15 April 2019
- 30 May 2019
- 3 July 2019
- 9 September 2019

- Designed to be both intellectually challenging and practical, the program consists of 16 week-long modules. These run approximately every six weeks to fit alongside your work commitments.
