Opportunity description

AUC presents its annual fellowship for excellent students enrolled in Master of Laws program, under the name of Nabil Elaraby LLM Endowed Fellowship. This fellowship honors Nabil Elaraby, who has a long career as a diplomat, a judge, and world-renowned international lawyer is an inspiration to young Egyptian law students with the intellectual aspiration to continue their graduate legal education at the AUC. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Egyptian nationals.
  2. Bachelor degree from an accredited university.
  3. Meet AUC graduate admissions requirements, including submission of AUC graduate application and needed documents.
  4. Full or provisional admission to the two year LLM program with the minimum grade point average of 3.2 or very good (gayed gidan).
  5. Financial need.
  6. Submit an International TOEFL iBT exam score or an IELTS exam score meeting the cut-off scores for AUC graduate admissions, as follows:
  • IBT TOEFL overall score 79-90.
  • IELTS overall score of 6.5.

Responsibilities of Fellows:

By accepting this externally funded fellowship, the fellowship recipient agrees to respond to any reporting requests received from AUC by the deadlines communicated to the awarded fellow. This may include a request for photos or academic progress information to be used for reporting purposes, or attendance of fellowship events including any meetings or events with donors as requested by the relevant university entities.

Duration:

The fellowship is awarded for one semester subject to renewal for up to two years.

Award:

The fellowship covers:

  1. Full or partial tuition fees.
  2. Student services and activities fee.

Required Documents:

  • A statement of purpose (about 500 words for each graduate program selected) indicating the reasons of interest in the specific program, what you will bring as skills and/or experiences to the program, and how graduate studies fit in your long term academic and professional objectives.
  • An updated resume (CV) that must include work experience and educational background.
  • At least two online letters of recommendation from persons familiar with your academic or professional background. 
  • Official academic records, of which one must be a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with proof of degree completion.
  • English proficiency certificate.
  • Clear copy of the valid national ID card (front and back) – Egyptian applicants only.
  • Clear copy of the information pages of your passport – International applicants and Egyptian dual nationals.
  • One recent passport size photograph (a clear electronic copy).
