Opportunity description

MPOWER Financing invites women from all over the world to apply for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Scholarship program for 2022 in either the United States or Canada. The program aims to empower high-potential global citizens to realize their educational aspirations and to honor the United Nation’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It also focuses on women who will use their degree to benefit society and the planet and who have the potential to serve as role models and advocates for women in scientific and technological fields. The company has been working on increasing access to higher education for women from emerging markets, as interviews indicate that women in emerging markets are less likely than their male counterparts to receive financial support for higher education from their families.

Benefits

The company offers a $5,000 scholarship to a woman who is currently enrolled or accepted to study full-time in a STEM degree program at an accredited partner university in the United States or Canada.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The student must be 18 years or older
  2. Applicants must be females
  3. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted to study full-time in a STEM degree program at one of MPOWER’s partner universities for the remainder of the student’s undergraduate study and/or for a graduate degree program
  4. For study at a U.S. partner college or university: F1 visa status, Green Card holder (permanent resident) status, or DACA recipient status
  5. For study at a Canadian partner college or university: permanent resident or Canadian study permit holder

About the organization

It is tackling this pervasive issue by working with investors and universities to provide an innovative and forward-looking education financing product for students from around the world. It is not just a student lender – the company’s goal is to set students up for academic, professional and financial successes.
