Opportunity description

The International Volunteer Service for Others, which also known as (VISA-AD) is calling for volunteers interested in teaching hearing-impaired children in France. The name of the project is European Volunteering at the Service (EVS). The institute calling for volunteers is specialized for hearing impaired children. It was founded in 1885 and counts today 6 departments devoted to the children with hearing problems and their parents. The institution provides to its pupils a specialized education adapted to their age, school level, and special needs. The EVS-project will take place in the kindergarten l’Envol, receiving children from 2 to 6 years old, and the period is up to one year.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must have the Interest for the target group, Hearing Impaired Children. You must have a knowledge of French because you will be engaged in a French-speaking community.

Benefits or funding:

This opportunity covers the cost of accommodation and meals. The successful applicant will work as a volunteer in France. He or She will be hosted in a flat with a bathroom situated on site and with an independent entrance. During the week, volunteers will be provided with meals and shall share their time with the staff and the children. During the weekends, he will have either the possibility to pick up meals in the Institute’s kitchen, or to buy his own food and to use the well-equipped office’s kitchen. In that case, the hosting organization will reimburse him his food costs.

The International Volunteer Service for Others, also known as (VISA-AD) is committed to volunteering since 1959. The organization is based in Strasbourg, France. It develops long-term volunteering missions in the fields of social action, education, solidarity, culture, environment, and health, in France and Europe. Its action creates a bond between voluntary associations and young people from 18 to 30 years old who are ready to give their time for others in need. The organization is engaged in volunteering in all its forms. VISA-AD organizes the recruitment, guidance, support, and training of young people who volunteer as part of a mission of general interest to the service of others in one of the themes, for about ten months at a partner association. VISA-AD accompany other associations to set up projects and host volunteers interested in helping and aiding others.
