Opportunity description
Applications are open for the 2026 Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA), a collaboration between A*STAR, NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, and SIT. This bond-free award is for international students with excellent undergraduate and/or master’s results and a strong interest in PhD or EngD research in Science and Engineering at a Singapore university.
Students can choose PhD or EngD training at A*STAR research institutes, NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT. Upon successful completion, students receive a PhD or EngD degree from NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU, or SIT.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Open to international graduates with a passion for research and excellent academic results. Note: SINGA is primarily for international students studying in Singapore for the first time. Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and international students who have studied in Singapore tertiary institutions are not eligible.
- Good written and spoken English skills.
- Good academic referee reports.
Benefits:
The award provides support for up to 4 years of PhD studies, including:
- Tuition fees
- Monthly stipend of S$2,700 (increased to S$3,200 after passing the Qualifying Examination)
- One-time airfare grant (up to S$1,500)
- One-time settling-in allowance (S$1,000)
Application Procedure:
- Browse PhD Research Projects: Browse projects in the Research Areas section.
- Documents Required: Prepare the following documents before applying. Note: Do not mail hard copies. All documents are submitted online. a. Valid Passport b. Recent passport-sized photo (.jpeg or .png format)
- Transcripts & Reports: All transcripts must be in English.
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s academic transcripts.
- Bachelor’s Degree certificate(s) or a letter of certification from the university if your degree certificate has not yet been conferred.
- 2 recommendation reports (to be completed and submitted online by the referees).
- You may be required to submit satisfactory GRE scores (university admission requirement).
- Submission of IELTS/TOEFL/SAT I & II/GATE results is optional and may be requested later by the university.
