Opportunity description
The Jusoor Hardship Fund offers a group of partially funded scholarships to Syrian university students at the bachelor’s and master’s levels who are registered in academic institutions in Lebanon, Jordan or Turkey and who are at risk of leaving the university due to financial need, with the aim of supporting higher education students and investing in the future of Syria, in addition to maintaining the academic journey for all students despite the challenges.
Benefits
The program provides financial assistance of up to $5,000 for one time, which the student can use towards university tuition. The funds are awarded as an interest-free loan, with the agreement that the student will repay their loans within 2 years after graduation, and where the returned funds will support new students in the future.
Eligibility criteria
- Be Syrian, Palestinian-Syrian or have a Syrian Travel Document.
- Be currently enrolled at university in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, or Turkey, in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
- Be enrolled in the last year of their program.
- Have a GPA 3.0 or better.
- Have relevant volunteer and/or work experience to the field of study.
- Demonstrate intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria.
