Opportunity description
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is seeking a Young Associate to work in the Advisors’ team of the Environment Directorate (ENV) Director’s Office, under the supervision of the Counsellor. The Associate will support the work of the Director and Deputy Directors and contribute to ensuring ENV work is effectively reflected in the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General’s engagements.
The Environment Directorate (ENV) provides timely information, analysis, and advice to support governments in identifying and implementing environmental policies for cleaner, more resource-efficient, and low-carbon green growth.
The ENV Director’s Office supports the Director and Deputy Directors. The advisors’ team supports the Directors with advice, briefings, and speeches, as well as the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General in their engagements related to the Directorate’s work.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing background notes, speeches, and talking points for the Office of the Secretary-General, and the Director and Deputy Directors (related to climate change, biodiversity, water, pollution, sustainable finance, and the circular economy).
- Support outreach and communication activities, preparing materials to promote outputs and messages at key events; contribute to ensuring ENV messages are reflected in wider OECD work.
- Contribute research and analysis to OECD-wide horizontal activities (e.g., ocean, gender, and infrastructure).
- Assist in organizing meetings and events and preparing meeting notes.
- Assist in coordinating teams within and outside the Directorate.
- Stay informed on international environmental issues and contribute to ad hoc projects.
Salary:
- Monthly base salary of 3,780.34 EUR (exempt from French income tax), plus allowances based on eligibility.
Eligibility:
- Undergraduate degree in environmental policy, science and management, economics, political science, public policy, or a related discipline (graduation date between January 1, 2024, and September 1, 2025). Applications from candidates holding or enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree will not be considered.
- Coursework in two of the following areas: Natural Resources Governance/Management, Environmental Economics, Climate Change Policy and Management, Climate Geopolitics, Biodiversity Management.
- Understanding of major environmental challenges.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Fluency in one OECD official language (English or French) and knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other.
