Projects Abroad provide legal internships in Ghana. You will work at the Ghana Legal Aid Center, where you will gain deeper insight into the judicial system in a developing country, and learn from local lawyers to gain invaluable experience in the legal field. You will assist in providing legal support for human rights disputes to people who do not have access to lawyers. You must be 18 years of age or older to apply for this opportunity.
Duties & responsibilities
- This project will broaden your knowledge of the law and give you an insight into the judicial system in a developing country.
- You will work alongside local lawyers, paralegals, and staff in a good professional environment, and learn from them.
- This training will add valuable work experience to your resume, which will help you in your career or postgraduate studies.
- You can also support the work the Foundation does at the Human Rights Overseas Projects Office in Accra where you will deal with a range of different issues from domestic violence to child labor.
Eligibility criteria
- This opportunity will suit you if you want to gain legal work experience in a developing country and have a great enthusiasm for helping those in need.
- You do not need previous experience to join this project, as the organization will assign you the right job based on your skill and experience. High volumes of work and complex cases are assigned only to trainees with relevant skills and experience. The work assigned to you also depends on the cases handled while you are in Ghana.
- This program runs throughout the year, with a short two-week break during Christmas and New Year's. You can join at any other time for a minimum period of four weeks. You'd better stay longer to learn more and work on more cases.
- This project is also ideal for qualified professionals as a greater difference can be made by supporting your skills in the organization's ongoing efforts.
- You will be able to work alongside partner organizations and local communities to support sustainable development.
- When applying you pay £195.
