Job Opportunity at TikTok in UAE as a Government Relations and Public Policy Manager - GCC

TikTok is offering a job opportunity in UAE as a Government Relations and Public Policy Manager - GCC. The Government Relations and Public Policy team lead government engagement and partnerships across the region.

1. Building relationships with governments, NGOs, academia, think tanks and other stakeholders the GCC to support the growth of TikTok.
2. Working with policymakers, think tanks and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on issues of data protection, privacy, safety and security, intellectual property, e-governance, content policy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns.
3. Building long-term strategic relationships with local partners; brainstorming and executing advocacy/policy campaigns in relevant public policy areas that impact TikTok.
4. Advising internal teams on public policy matters emerging in the GCC; and helping to shape strategic and actionable plans in line with respective governments' regulations and policy frameworks.
5. Actively identifying emerging and significant policy issues in these markets and engaging with stakeholders and experts on issues of importance.
6. Monitoring political and social events in the GCC region, and working with local teams to mitigate operational risks.
7. Being an external advocate for TikTok's policy positions, and working to help local communities understand TikTok better.

1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. A post-graduate qualification is desirable. - An educational background in law or public policy is a plus.
2. 10 years of demonstrated experience managing public policy and/or government relations, advocacy work and government/private sector partnerships, especially in the GCC.
3. 5 years or more of work experience in local government or a public policy team of a global tech or Internet company is preferred.
4. Outstanding judgment, persuasive and lobbying skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and often uncertain environment.
5. A deep understanding of the GCC market and the technology sector.
6. Deep knowledge of the region's political system, environment and institutions, as well as cultural landscape.
7. A solid network and relationships with GCC policy-makers, academia, civil society and the technology industry.
8. An interest in emerging technologies and public policy work; and,
9. A strong team player with the ability to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment.
