Opportunity description
Aramex is announcing a job opportunity as a Customs Accountant in Jordan. You will be responsible for managing and supervising all customs-related accounting activities, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, preparing necessary documentation, and facilitating accurate and timely customs declarations for imported and exported goods.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing and reviewing customs declarations, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Managing the accounting processes for customs duties, tariffs and taxes associated with import/export transactions.
- Maintaining accurate records of customs transactions and financial documents.
- Cooperating with logistics and shipping teams to ensure smooth customs clearance processes.
- Monitoring changes in customs regulations and updating internal policies accordingly.
- Preparing necessary reports on customs duties and taxes for management and regulatory authorities.
- Assisting in resolving any customs-related discrepancies or issues with relevant authorities.
- Providing necessary training and guidance to staff on customs accounting procedures.
- Communicating with customs brokers, shipping companies and government agencies when necessary.
- Analyzing customs data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings or process improvement.
- Developing and implementing customs compliance strategies to minimize risks and penalties.
- Ensuring that all customs documents are accurate, complete and submitted on time.
- Cooperating with the finance team to integrate customs accounting with overall financial reporting.
- Participating in internal and external audits related to customs activities.
- Staying informed of global trade agreements and their impact on customs operations.
- Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for customs accounting practices.

Eligibility criteria
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; professional certifications (e.g. CPA or CMA) preferred.
- Proven experience in customs accounting or similar position, with a strong understanding of customs regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and customs declaration systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
