Opportunity description

The Washington Post Newsroom Internships program is now accepting applications for the 2020 Summer Internship Program. The program is open to any college junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline date. If you have had at least one previous professional news media job or internship, you can apply for this paid internship.

Requirements and Conditions:

  1. You must be a college junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline date.
  2. Applicants must have had at least one previous professional news media job or internship.
  3. Foreign citizens can apply for internships. All work samples must be submitted in English. If selected, the necessary documentation for obtaining the proper U.S work visa must be provided.
  4. It is preferred that reporting interns have a car available for their use during the internship. All interns must provide their own transportation to and from work.
  5. Washington Post can point the interns in the right direction to find housing, but they are responsible for their own housing arrangements.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the interns are mainly to:

  1. Report and write articles.
  2. Edit copy.
  3. Take photographs.
  4. Shoot and edit video.
  5. Create graphics and design on multiple platforms.

The interns are treated as staff members during their employment.

  2. Visual Journalists.
  3. Multiplatform Editors.
  4. Multiplatform Producers.
  5. News and Digital Designers.
  6. Graphics Reporters and Developers.
  7. Social Media Producers.
  8. Audio Producers.
