Job Opportunity at Spotify in USA: Podcast Producer

Spotify is offering an exciting job opportunity as a Producer for the Every Little Thing – Gimlet podcast to join the team in New York, USA for 2020. On Every Little Thing, listeners call in with questions they can’t get out of their heads, and we track down the very best people to deliver answers. So far, the program made 120 episodes (and counting), and it get hundreds of listener calls a week. In this role you’ll be involved at every stage in making ELT stories come to life -- from selecting listener questions, to brainstorming new and interesting ways to answer them.  You’ll find the best path to a story, stay out of the weeds, and know when it might be time to kill a story that’s not working. You’ll book the best guests, pick the best bits of tape, write coherent, sharp scripts and create assemblies. The ideal candidate has a journalism background, experience scripting podcasts, an ear for a good story, and knows how to work the phones in search of that perfect guest. 

Responsibilities:

1. Pitch stories.
2. Brainstorm new segment and episode ideas.
3. Find, pre-interview, and book guests .
4. Arrange for studio recordings and tape syncs.
5. Write scripts.
6. Cut tape, assemble mixes and score episodes.
7. Help grow and maintain the show’s social media presence.
8. Help out with basic show tasks.

Qualifications: 

1. A minimum of four years of experience producing audio for radio or podcast.
2. A journalism background.
3. A healthy dose of skepticism.
4. An ability to listen to raw tape, and identify the perfect details, the need-to-know plot points, and the need-to-hear moments that make a story.
5. An ability to sift through mountains of information and find the best ideas, distilling them into an engaging story.
6. Experience scripting minute audio stories longer than 10 minutes.
7. Proficiency in field recording.
8. Proficiency in creating assemblies in ProTools.
9. An eye for detail, a strong desire to avoid on-air mistakes.
10. Self-direction and an ability to work independently.
11. A high tolerance for puns.
